NCIt definition : DNA topoisomerase 1 (765 aa, 91 kDa) is encoded by the human TOP1 gene. This protein plays a role in the regulation of DNA topology.;

Alternative definition : CDISC: An antigen of the nuclear enzyme topoisomerase 1 encoded by the TOP1 gene that relaxes coiled DNA. It can be considered as an autoantigen and is commonly associated with the autoimmune diseases systemic sclerosis and systemic lupus erythematosus.;
