" /> cAMP-Dependent Protein Kinase Catalytic Subunit Alpha - CISMeF

Preferred Label : cAMP-Dependent Protein Kinase Catalytic Subunit Alpha;

NCIt synonyms : cAMP-Dependent Protein Kinase Alpha; PKA C-Alpha; PRKACA; cAMP-Dependent Protein Kinase Alpha-Catalytic Subunit; EC 2.7.11.11; Protein Kinase A C-Alpha; Protein Kinase-A C-Alpha; Protein Kinase A Catalytic Subunit; Protein Kinase A Catalytic Subunit Alpha;

NCIt definition : cAMP-dependent protein kinase catalytic subunit alpha (351 aa, 41 kDa) is encoded by the human PRKACA gene. This protein plays a role in protein phosphorylation and multiple signaling pathways.;

NCIt note : cAMP-dependent protein kinase catalytic subunit gamma is a catalytic subunit of tetrameric inactive cytoplasmic holoenzyme protein Kinase A. Homo- or heterodimeric regulatory subunits of inactive PKA holoenzyme are associated with two catalytic subunits. Most cellular effects of cAMP are mediated through PKA. cAMP-induced dissociation of holoenzyme releases a dimer of cAMP-bound regulatory subunits and free monomeric catalytic subunits that serine/threonine phosphorylate many cytoplasmic and nuclear substrates.;
