NCIt definition : Activated caspase-9 ( 400 aa, 45 kDa) is encoded by the human CASP9 gene. This protein
is involved in the induction of caspase-dependent apoptosis.;
NCIt note : Activated caspase-9 is a heterodimer formed by a 35 kDa (p35) and a 10 kDa (p10) subunit.
The p35 and p10 subunits are produced by apoptotic protease-activating factor 1 (APAF1)-mediated
proteolysis of caspase-9 (procaspase-9). APAF1 proteolysis removes the amino acids
316 through 330 of procaspase-9. Two heterodimers form an anti-parallel complex to
obtain full enzymatic activity. (UniProt);
