" /> Induced Myeloid Leukemia Cell Differentiation Protein Mcl-1 - CISMeF

Preferred Label : Induced Myeloid Leukemia Cell Differentiation Protein Mcl-1;

NCIt synonyms : Myeloid Cell Leukemia Sequence 1; Bcl-2-Like Protein 3; MCL1; MCL-1 Protein; Bcl2-L-3; Bcl-2-Related Protein EAT/mcl1; mcl1/EAT;

NCIt definition : Induced myeloid leukemia cell differentiation protein Mcl-1 (350 aa, 37 kDa) is encoded by the human MCL1 gene. This protein is involved in the modulation of cell viability.;

NCIt note : Is a 37 kDa protein that expressed in many types of long-lived cells. Mcl-1 protein is found in mitochondrial and other membranes also. Mcl-1 appears to function as a repressor of apoptotic cell death. It interacts with Bax, a protein promoting cell death. Overproduction of Mcl-1 can delay cell death by apoptosis associated with growth factor withdrawal, overexpression of the myc oncogene, or treatment with cytotoxic agents.;
