" /> Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptor Alpha - CISMeF

Preferred Label : Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptor Alpha;

NCIt synonyms : CD140a Antigen; EC 2.7.1.112; Alpha Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptor; PDGFRA; PDGF-R-Alpha; CD140 Antigen-Like Family Member A; Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Alpha Receptor; CD140a; Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptor 2; Alpha-Type Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptor; PDGFR-Alpha; PDGFR-2; EC 2.7.10.1; Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptor Alpha Polypeptide;

NCIt definition : Platelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha (1089 aa, 123 kDa) is encoded by the human PDGFRA gene. This protein is involved in ligand binding, tyrosine phosphorylation and receptor signaling.;

NCIt note : The identity of the growth factor bound to a receptor monomer determines whether the functional receptor is a homodimer or a heterodimer, composed of both platelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha and beta polypeptides. Studies in knockout mice, where homozygosity is lethal, indicate that the alpha form of the platelet-derived growth factor receptor is particularly important for kidney development since mice heterozygous for the receptor exhibit defective kidney phenotypes.
