NCIt definition : Human CDKN1A wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 6p21.2 and is approximately 9 kb in length. This allele, which encodes cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1 protein, plays a role in the progression of the cell cycle at the G1 phase.;

NCIt note : The CDKN1A gene encodes a cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor, which inhibits cyclin kinase activity and may be the p53 effector of cell cycle control. This gene is transcriptionally regulated by p53 and IFN beta. Two alternatively spliced variants, which encode an identical protein, have been reported for CDKN1A.;
