" /> Cyclin-Dependent Kinase 9 - CISMeF

Preferred Label : Cyclin-Dependent Kinase 9;

NCIt synonyms : Serine/Threonine Protein Kinase PITALRE; Cell Division Protein Kinase 9; CDK9; Cell Division Cycle 2-Like Protein Kinase 4; EC 2.7.11.22; EC 2.7.11.23; Serine/Threonine-Protein Kinase PITALRE; Tat-Associated Kinase Complex Catalytic Subunit; C-2K;

NCIt definition : Cyclin-dependent kinase 9 (372 aa, 43 kDa) is encoded by the human CDK9 gene. This protein plays a role in the positive regulation of transcriptional elongation.;

NCIt note : Cyclin-dependent kinase 9 is the catalytic subunit of the positive transcription elongation factor b (P-TEFb), which also contains cyclin-T. P-TEFb phosphorylates the CTD (C-terminal domain) of the large subunit of RNA polymerase II (RNAP II) POLR2A, SUPT5H, RDBP, EP300, MYOD1, RPB1/POLR2A and AR, and the negative elongation factors DSIF and NELF, which facilitates transcriptional elongation.
