NCIt definition : Cyclin-dependent kinase 9 (372 aa, 43 kDa) is encoded by the human CDK9 gene. This
protein plays a role in the positive regulation of transcriptional elongation.;
NCIt note : Cyclin-dependent kinase 9 is the catalytic subunit of the positive transcription elongation
factor b (P-TEFb), which also contains cyclin-T. P-TEFb phosphorylates the CTD (C-terminal
domain) of the large subunit of RNA polymerase II (RNAP II) POLR2A, SUPT5H, RDBP,
EP300, MYOD1, RPB1/POLR2A and AR, and the negative elongation factors DSIF and NELF,
which facilitates transcriptional elongation. (UniProt);
