NCIt definition : T-cell surface glycoprotein CD5 (495 aa, 54 kDa) is encoded by the human CD5 gene.
This protein may be involved in regulating the proliferation of T-cells.;
NCIt note : T-cell surface glycoprotein CD5 is a membrane bound glycoprotein expressed on all
mature T-cells, thymocytes, and a subset of mature B-cells. Antibodies that specifically
bind to CD5 can enhance T-cell receptor-mediated T-cell activation. This protein can
bind to CD72 antigen. (Abbas et al., Cellular and Molecular Immunology, 2d ed, p156);
