NCIt definition : A preparation of genetically modified autologous T-cells expressing a chimeric antigen
receptor (CAR) directed against cluster of differentiation 5 (CD5), with potential
immunomodulating and antineoplastic activities. Upon administration, the autologous
anti-CD5 CAR T-lymphocytes MB-105 target and bind to CD5-expressing tumor cells, thereby
inducing selective cytotoxicity in CD5-expressing tumor cells. CD5 is a T-cell surface
glycoprotein expressed on the surface of normal T-cells and overexpressed on various
B- and T-cell malignancies.;
