NCIt definition : Integrin beta-2 (769 aa, 85 kDa) is encoded by the human ITGB2 gene. This protein
is involved in complement C3 binding, leukocyte adhesion, and neutrophil chemotaxis.;
NCIt note : Leukocyte cell adhesion molecules belong to the glycoprotein integrin class of alpha-beta
heterodimers. Integrin beta-2 chains are non-covalently linked to CD11 alpha chains,
as in the integrin CR3 (CD11b/CD18) and the integrin CR4 (CD11c/CD18). JAB1 interacts
with the LFA1 beta-2 (CD18) cytoplasmic domain. LFA1 engagement is followed by an
increase of nuclear JAB1, enhanced DNA binding of AP1 complexes, and increased transactivation
of target promoters.;
