" /> S-Phase Kinase-Associated Protein 2 - CISMeF

Preferred Label : S-Phase Kinase-Associated Protein 2;

NCIt synonyms : CDK2/Cyclin A-Associated Protein p45; SKP2; F-Box Protein SKP2; Cyclin A/CDK2-Associated Protein p45; p45 SKP2; F-Box/LRR-Repeat Protein 1; S-Phase Kinase-Associated Protein-2;

NCIt definition : S-phase kinase-associated protein 2 (424 aa, 48 kDa) is encoded by the human SKP2 gene. This protein is involved in the regulation of protein-protein interactions that govern the cell cycle.;

NCIt note : S-phase kinase-associated protein 2 is the substrate recognition component for the SKP1-CUL1-F-box protein E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complex. (UniProt); S-Phase Kinase-Associated Protein 2 contains an F-box domain and 10 tandem LRR repeats. SKP2 acts as a substrate recognition component of the SCF E3 ubiquitin ligase complex, which mediates ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation of target proteins involved in cell cycle progression, signal transduction, and transcription. SKP2 interacts with CUL1, SKP1, and CKS1, and with the Cyclin A/CDK2 complex as an essential element of Cyclin A/CDK2 S-Phase Kinase. Involved in the G1/S transition, SKP2 specifically recognizes phosphorylated CDKN1B/p27KIP predominantly in S phase and interacts with S-phase p19SKP1. CDKN1B/p27KIP degradation also requires CKS1.;
