" /> Vitamin D3 Receptor - CISMeF

Preferred Label : Vitamin D3 Receptor;

NCIt synonyms : Cholecalciferol Receptor; Receptors, Calcitriol; 1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 Receptor; VDR; Nuclear Receptor Subfamily 1 Group I Member 1; Calcitriol Receptor; Vitamin D Receptor; Protein Phosphatase 1, Regulatory Subunit 163; Vitamin D Hormone Receptor; Vitamin-D3 Receptor; NR1I1;

NCIt definition : Vitamin D3 receptor (427 aa, 48 kDa) is encoded by the human VDR gene. This protein is involved in vitamin D-mediated transcriptional regulation.;

NCIt note : Vitamin D3 receptor dimerizes with retinoic acid receptor RXR-alpha after vitamin D binds. (UniProt); Vitamin D3 Receptors are cytoplasmic polypeptides that specifically bind 1,25(OH)2D3, migrate to the nucleus, and regulate transcription of specific target genes to produce a variety of biologic effects. The VDR protein belongs to the steroid superfamily of trans-acting transcriptional regulatory factors and is most closely related to the thyroid hormone receptors. VDR residues immediately N-terminal of the first DNA-binding zinc finger are vital for contact with TFIIB. (from OMIM 601769);
