" /> Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor 1 - CISMeF

Preferred Label : Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor 1;

NCIt synonyms : PAI-1; PLANH1; Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor Type 1; PAI1; Endothelial Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor; SERPINE1; Serpin E1; PAI; Serine or Cysteine Proteinase Inhibitor Clade E Member 1; Nexin; Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-1;

NCIt definition : Plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (402 aa, 45 kDa) is encoded by the human SERPINE1 gene. This protein plays a role in both cell adhesion and the modulation of plasmin activity.;

NCIt note : Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-1 is a member of the serpin superfamily that inhibits both tissue-type and urokinase-type plasminogen activators. PAI1 shows structural similarities to angiotensinogen, alpha-1-antitrypsin, and antithrombin III and also regulates motility through the interaction of vitronectin with its receptor, integrin alpha-V-beta-3.
