Summary :Infant vaccination is a daily gesture in general medicine.
It causes pain and anxiety for the infant. Poor management of this pain leads to memory
and a risk of anticipatory anxiety for subsequent actions. The goal is to explore
the obstacles to optimal management of this pain. This is a qualitative study with
13 semi-directed interviews of general practitioners in Alsace. The general practitioners
interviewed consider vaccination a painful gesture, however, they use little or no
optimal means of prevention existing, calling into question for some their effectiveness,
including the patch EMLA . There is a lack of knowledge about infant pain and their
ability to memorize. The essential for the surveyed physicians seems to be the relational
aspect, with the link doctor, child and parents. Confidence in the child and parents
is necessary.;
