P53-Induced Death Domain-Containing Protein 1NCIt concept
Preferred Label : p53-Induced Death Domain-Containing Protein 1;
NCIt synonyms : Leucine-Rich Repeat and Death Domain-Containing Protein; EC 3.4.21.-; p53-Induced Death Domain Protein 1; PIDD1; p53-Induced Protein With a Death Domain; p53-Induced Protein With Death Domain; p53-Induced Death Domain Protein; Leucine-Rich Repeats- and Death Domain-Containing Protein;
NCIt definition : p53-induced death domain-containing protein 1 (910 aa, 100 kDa) is encoded by the
human PIDD1 gene. This protein plays a role in proteolysis, caspase activation and
DNA damage responses.;
NCIt note : p53-induced death domain-containing protein 1 (PIDD1) is autoproteolytically cleaved
into a two chain form comprised of fragments PIDD-N and PIDD-C. Upon cleavage of PIDD1,
the two chain protein translocates into the nucleus and activates of NF-kappa-B. Further
proteolysis of the PIDD-C chain forms PIDD-CC, which mediates the activation of caspase-2.
