" /> Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor - CISMeF

Preferred Label : Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor;

NCIt synonyms : AhR; AH Receptor; Aromatic Hydrocarbon Receptor; AH-Receptor; bHLHe76; Class E Basic Helix-Loop-Helix Protein 76;

NCIt definition : Aryl hydrocarbon receptor (848 aa, 96 kDa) is encoded by the human AHR gene. This protein is involved in the regulation of apotosis, the cell cycle and xenobiotic-stimulated gene transcription.;

NCIt note : The aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) is a ligand-activated helix/loop/helix transcription factor found in a variety of vertebrate species. Many foreign planar aromatic compounds, such as polycyclic aromatic compounds and halogenated aromatic compounds such as 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) are ligands of AhR. Unlike the steroid/thyroid hormone receptors, there is no known physiological ligand for the AhR.;
