NCIt definition : PR domain zinc finger protein 1 (825 aa, 92 kDa) is encoded by the human PRDM1 gene.
This protein is involved in the negative regulation of gene expression.;
NCIt note : PR-Domain Zinc Finger Protein 1 is a transcriptional repressor containing a SET domain
and 4 C2H2-type zinc fingers. PRDM1 specifically binds to the PRDI (positive regulatory
domain I) element of the beta-IFN gene promoter and represses beta-interferon gene
expression. PRDM1 also drives maturation of B lymphocytes into Ig secreting cells.
