NCIt definition : Inhibin beta A chain (426 aa, 47 kDa) is encoded by the human INHBA gene. This protein
plays a role in the regulation of the secretion of follitropin by the pituitary gland.;
NCIt note : The inhibin beta A chain joins the inhibin alpha chain to form Inhibin-A, which inhibits
follitropin production. Alternatively, the inhibin beta A chain protein is found in
a homodimeric complex, called Activin A, or in a heterodimeric complex with the inhibin
beta B chain, called Activin AB. The Activin complexes stimulate follitropin secretion.
