" /> DNA-Binding Protein Inhibitor ID-2 - CISMeF

Preferred Label : DNA-Binding Protein Inhibitor ID-2;

NCIt synonyms : bHLHb26; ID2; Inhibitor of DNA Binding 2, Dominant Negative Helix-Loop-Helix Protein; Inhibitor of DNA Binding 2; Class B Basic Helix-Loop-Helix Protein 26; Inhibitor of Differentiation 2; ID2 Protein; Helix-Loop-Helix Protein ID2; DNA-Binding Protein Inhibitor ID2;

NCIt definition : DNA-binding protein inhibitor ID-2 (134 aa, 15 kDa) is encoded by the human ID2 gene. This protein is involved in the modulation of DNA binding by transcription factors.;

NCIt note : DNA-binding protein inhibitor ID-2 is an HLH protein, but lacks a basic DNA-binding domain. This protein heterodimerizes through the HLH domain with other bHLH transcription factors and inhibits DNA binding of those factors in a dominant-negative manner by suppressing their heterodimerization with functional partners.;
