NCIt definition : Carboxypeptidase B2 (423 aa, 48 kDa) is encoded by the human CPB2 gene. This protein
is involved in the cleavage of C-terminal arginine or lysine residues from biologically
active peptides and partially degraded fibrin.;
NCIt note : The carboxypeptidase B2 zymogen is stabilized by interactions with the activation
peptide. Thrombin mediates the release of the activation peptide and results in increased
mobility of a dynamic flap in the protein structure. This leads to conformational
changes that expose a cryptic thrombin-cleavage site present at Arg-324 and contributes
to the short half-life of active carboxypeptidase B2. (UniProt);
