NCIt definition : A fusion gene that results from a chromosomal translocation t(12;15)(p13;q25) which
fuses the 5' half of the ETV6 gene to the 3' half of the NTRK3 gene. This fusion is
associated with congenital fibrosarcoma, congenital mesoblastic nephroma (cellular
and mixed variants), and secretory ductal carcinoma of breast.;
NCIt note : The presence of the ETV6-NTRK3 gene fusion in both congenital fibrosarcoma and cellular
congenital mesoblastic nephroma indicate an excellent prognosis when compared to their
histologically similar and more aggressive counterparts that do not have the fusion
gene. (Atlas of Genetics and Cytogenetics in Oncology and Haematology);
