NCIt definition : Human TNFRSF11B wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 8q24 and is approximately
29 kb in length. This allele, which encodes tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily
member 11B protein, plays a role in bone homeostasis through the mediation of osteoclast
apoptosis. Deletions and mutations in the gene are associated with juvenile Paget
disease of the bone.;
NCIt note : Studies of the mouse counterpart also suggest this protein and its ligand play a role
in lymph-node organogenesis and vascular calcification. Alternatively spliced transcript
variants of this gene have been reported, but their respective length is unknown.;
