NCIt definition : Human BCL10 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 1p22 and is approximately
12 kb in length. This allele, which encodes B-cell lymphoma/leukemia 10 protein, is
involved in the induction of apoptosis and the activation of NF-kappaB.;
NCIt note : BCL10 was identified by its translocation in a case of mucosa-associated lymphoid
tissue (MALT) lymphoma. The protein encoded by this gene contains a caspase recruitment
domain (CARD), and has been shown to induce apoptosis and to activate NF-kappaB. MALT1
and B-cell lymphoma/leukemia 10 protein are thought to synergize in the activation
of NF-kappaB, and the deregulation of either of them may contribute to the same pathogenetic
process that leads to the malignancy.;
