" /> RAR and RXR Degradation Pathway - CISMeF

Preferred Label : RAR and RXR Degradation Pathway;

NCIt related terms : Degradation of the RAR and RXR by the proteasome;

Alternative definition : BIOCARTA: Once retinoids are bound by the RAR/RXR heterodimer they became transcriptional activated. As a consequence they are degraded by the proteasome. Phosphorylation in the activation domain one (AF1) and presence of the activation domain 2 (AF2) trigger the ubiquitination of the receptors. Moreover, heterodimerization of RAR and RXR accelerate degradation of the receptors. (This definition may be outdated - see the DesignNote.);

NCIt note : The BIOCARTA Definition (ALT_DEFINITION) for this pathway concept was provided by BioCarta. This property was not created by, nor is it maintained by the NCI Thesaurus staff. Additionally, BioCarta is no longer updating its pathway data; thus, the BIOCARTA Definition might be outdated or inaccurate.
