" /> Growth Arrest-Specific Protein 2 - CISMeF

Preferred Label : Growth Arrest-Specific Protein 2;

NCIt synonyms : Growth-Arrest-Specific Protein 2; GAS-2; Growth-Arrest-Specific Protein-2;

NCIt definition : Growth arrest-specific protein 2 (313 aa, 35 kDa) is encoded by the human GAS2 gene. This protein may be involved in both apoptosis and cytoskeletal rearrangement.;

NCIt note : Growth arrest-specific protein 2 is localized at the actin cytoskeleton, along stress fibers, and at the plasma membrane, and is phosphorylated on serine residues during G0/G1 transition. Hyperphosphorylated GAS2 accumulates at membrane ruffles. In apoptosis, GAS2 is a substrate for caspases; cleaved forms of GAS2 induce actin cytoskeletal rearrangements and cell shape changes.;
