NCIt definition : .Leukotriene B4 receptor 1 (352 aa, 38 kDa) is encoded by the human LTB4R gene. This
protein is involved in both purine nucleotide binding and G protein-coupled receptor
signaling.;
NCIt note : Leukotriene B4 Receptor, encoded by the LTB4R gene, belongs to family 1 of G-protein
coupled receptors. This protein is a receptor for extracellular ATP, UTP and ADP,
and its activity is mediated by G proteins which activate a phosphatidylinositol-calcium
second messenger system. This protein may be the cardiac P2Y receptor involved in
the regulation of cardiac muscle contraction through modulation of L-type calcium
currents. It is also a receptor for leukotriene B4, a potent chemoattractant involved
in inflammation and immune response. It is expressed at highest levels in heart, skeletal
muscle and at lower levels in brain and liver, with high level of expression in lymphoid
tissues. (SwissProt);
