NCIt definition : Myotubularin-related protein 5 (1868 aa, 208 kDa) is encoded by the human SBF1 gene.
This protein is involved in the regulation of myotubularin-related protein 2 (MTMR2)-mediated
phosphoinositol phosphatase activity and guanine nucleotide exchange activity for
Rab family proteins.;
NCIt note : Although myotubularin-related protein 5 belongs to the non-receptor phosphatase myotubularin
subfamily, it lacks the conserved active site cysteine residue at position 1422 in
the presumptive catalytic loop and does not have phosphatase activity. (UniProt);
