NCIt definition : Unconventional myosin-Ig (1018 aa, 116 kDa) is encoded by the human MYO1G gene. This
protein is involved in membrane/cytoskeletal interactions that are required for immune
responses to rare antigens.;
NCIt note : The MHC class I HLA-A*0201 restricted HA-2 antigenic peptide within the canonical
form of unconventional myosin-Ig is comprised of the nonapeptide sequence YIGEVLVSV
(the second V represents valine at residue 49) and is referred to as MYO1G(V). There
is a MYO1G variant with the sequence YIGEVLVSM (where valine-49 has been mutated to
methionine) that is referred to as MYO1G(M), this amino acid change (V49M) results
in a failure of the nonapeptide to be presented at the surface of cells that express
MYO1G(M) endogenously. (J Immunol. 2001;167:3223-30.);
