NCIt definition : A family of transcription factors that play important roles during development, cell
proliferation, regeneration, and tissue homeostasis as members of various signal transduction
pathways including Hippo, Wnt, transforming growth factor beta (TGFB), and epidermal
growth factor receptor (EGFR) pathways. Members of the family have an N-terminal DNA-binding
region of about 66 to 68 amino acids, which is named for the two proteins that originally
defined the domain: TEF-1 and abaA (TEA domain or TEAD), and a C-terminal region YAP
binding domain (YBD) that binds to the transcriptional coactivators of the Hippo signaling
pathway, YAP1 and WWTR1(TAZ).;
NCIt note : There are four human TEAD transcription factors.;
