NCIt definition : Transcriptional regulator ERG (486 aa, 55 kDa) is encoded by the human ERG gene.
This protein plays a role in protein-protein interactions and transcriptional regulation.;
NCIt note : A member of the ETS family of transcription factors closely related to FLI1, Transforming
Protein ERG shows homology to two domains of the ETS oncogene. ERG1 and ERG2 are products
of alternative splicing and polyadenylation, as well as translation initiation. ERG2
is a nuclear phosphoprotein that binds to purine-rich sequences. Like other ETS proteins,
ERG2 is a sequence-specific DNA-binding protein and expressed at higher levels in
early myeloid cells than in mature lymphoid cells. ERG2 acts as a regulator of genes
required for maintenance and/or differentiation of early hematopoietic cells. (OMIM);
