" /> Disintegrin and Metalloproteinase Domain-Containing Protein 9 - CISMeF

Preferred Label : Disintegrin and Metalloproteinase Domain-Containing Protein 9;

NCIt synonyms : Myeloma Cell Metalloproteinase; Meltrin-Gamma; Metalloprotease-Like, Disintegrin-Like, Cysteine-Rich Protein 9; A Disintegrin and Metalloproteinase Domain 9; EC 3.4.24.-; Meltrin Gamma; Cellular Disintegrin-Related Protein; Metalloprotease/Disintegrin/Cysteine-Rich Protein 9; ADAM 9; ADAM9;

NCIt definition : Disintegrin and metalloproteinase domain-containing protein 9 (819 aa, 91 kDa) is encoded by the human ADAM9 gene. This protein is involved in the proteolytic shedding of the ectodomains of several biologically active membrane-bound proteins.;

NCIt note : Disintegrin and metalloproteinase domain-containing protein 9 is synthesized in an inactive form, which is proteolytically cleaved to generate an active enzyme. Pro-domain cleavage occurs at two different pro-protein convertase sites. The upstream cleavage site plays a more important role in enzyme activation than the site at the boundary between the pro-domain and the catalytic domain. (UniProt);
