NCIt definition : A heterodimeric complex comprised of the highly variable T-cell receptor (TCR) alpha
and beta chain proteins, which are linked by interchain disulfide bonds. This membrane
bound complex is expressed on the surface of most T-lymphocytes and is involved in
the recognition of peptide antigens that are presented by major histocompatibility
(MHC) proteins. The alpha/beta dimer is non-covalently associated with the CD3 complex,
which promotes ligand-dependent signaling.;
