NCIt note : Truncated glioma-associated oncogene homolog 1 protein (tGLI1) is missing amino acid residues 34 to 74 due to alternative splicing. tGLI1 undergoes nuclear translocalization and transactivates GLI1-binding sites similar to the wild-type zinc finger protein GLI1; however, tGLI1 is gain-of-function variant that can activate several genes that are not regulated by wild-type GLI1.
