NCIt definition : Human FGF7 wild-type allele is located within 15q15-q21.1 and is approximately 64 kb in length. This allele, which encodes keratinocyte growth factor protein, is involved in epithelial cell-specific growth regulation.;

NCIt note : Human Fibroblast Growth Factor 7 Gene (FGF family) at 15q15-q21.1 encodes 28 kD FGF7, which stimulates epithelial cell (predominantly keratinocyte) growth, but lacks mitogenic activity on fibroblasts or endothelial cells. Studies of mouse and rat homologs of this gene implicated roles in morphogenesis of epithelium, re-epithelialization of wounds, hair development and early lung organogenesis.;
