NCIt definition : Human GRK4 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 4p16.3 and is approximately 77 kb in length. This allele, which encodes G protein-coupled receptor kinase 4 protein, plays a role in the negative regulation of G protein-coupled receptor signaling. The GRK4 gene is associated with both heritable and acquired hypertension.;

NCIt note : The GRK4 gene is expressed primarily in the brain and testis. This gene encodes four isoforms of G protein-coupled receptor kinase 4 protein (GRK4 isoforms alpha, beta, delta and gamma). Of these, only the full-length GRK4-alpha isoform has kinase activity, can phosphorylate rhodopsin and is inhibited by calmodulin.;
