" /> PMAIP1 wt Allele - CISMeF

Preferred Label : PMAIP1 wt Allele;

NCIt synonyms : Phorbol-12-Myristate-13-Acetate-Induced Protein 1 wt Allele; APR; NOXA;

NCIt definition : Human PMAIP1 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 18q21.32 and is approximately 4 kb in length. This allele, which encodes phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate-induced protein 1, is a mediator of p53-dependent apoptosis.;

NCIt note : PMAIP1 is rapidly induced (2.0-kb mRNA) by PMA, which is a p53-responsive immediate-early-response gene. PMAIP1 shows highest similarity to p53- and X-ray responsive Noxa gene (mouse), encoding 103-aa Noxa protein with 2 BH3 motifs. Noxa exhibits BH3-dependent localization to mitochondria and interacts with antiapoptotic BCL2 family proteins, resulting in activation of caspase-9. PMAIP1/Noxa may mediate p53-dependent apoptosis in cells exposed to noxious stresses.;
