NCIt definition : Programmed cell death 1 ligand 2 (273 aa, 31 kDa) is encoded by the human PDCD1LG2 gene. This protein is involved in the modulation of both T-cell proliferation and cytokine production.;

NCIt note : Widely expressed (highest in placenta, heart, pancreas, lung, and liver) by human PDCD1LG2 Gene, 273 aa 31-kDa Programmed Death Ligand 2 Protein is 70% identical to mouse Pdl2 protein and contains a signal sequence, IgV- and IgC-like domains, a transmembrane region, and a cytoplasmic region. Gamma-interferon stimulates PDCD1LG2 expression in monocytes. The IgV domain appears to bind to PDCD1, but not to CTLA4, CD28, or ICOS. Stimulation with anti-CD3 and Pdl2, or Pdl1, inhibits proliferation of mouse T cells and cytokine production. At low anti-CD3 concentrations, mouse Pdl2 preferentially co-stimulates CD4-positive (Th1) T-cell proliferation and Ifng production.;
