NCIt definition : Natural killer cells antigen CD94 (179 aa, 20 kDa) is encoded by the human KLRD1 gene. This protein is involved in signaling in natural killer cells.;

NCIt note : Preferentially expressed in NK lymphocytes, CD94 Antigen (179-amino acid, 20.5-kD CD94-A and 148-amino acid CD94 ALT) is encoded by KLRD1 Gene (C-Lectin Family) and may regulate NK cell function. A type II membrane protein (external C-terminus), CD94 contains a 147-amino acid extracellular domain with C-type lectin motifs, a 26-amino acid transmembrane domain, and a 7-amino acid cytoplasmic domain (absent in CD94 ALT). CD94 forms disulfide-bonded heterodimers with NKG2A, NKG2C, and NKG2E. Nonclassical MHC HLA-E protein ligand binds to CD94/NKG2A, CD94/NKG2B, and CD94/NKG2C NK cell receptors.;
