" /> Inhibitor of Growth Protein 1 - CISMeF

Preferred Label : Inhibitor of Growth Protein 1;

NCIt synonyms : Inhibitor of Growth Family Member 1; Inhibitor of Growth 1; ING1; Inhibitor of Growth-1 Protein;

NCIt definition : Inhibitor of growth protein 1 (422 aa, 47 kDa) is encoded by the human ING1 gene. This protein is involved in the regulation of the cell cycle.;

NCIt note : The ING1 protein physically interacts with p53 and appears necessary for the role of p53 in growth inhibition/apoptosis. ING1 shares many biological functions with p53 and has been reported to mediate growth arrest, senescence, apoptosis, anchorage-dependent growth, chemosensitivity, and DNA repair. Some of these functions, such as cell cycle arrest and apoptosis, have been shown to be dependent on the activity of both ING1 and p53 proteins.
