" /> Cell Adhesion Molecule-Related/Down-Regulated By Oncogenes - CISMeF

Preferred Label : Cell Adhesion Molecule-Related/Down-Regulated By Oncogenes;

NCIt synonyms : Surface Glycoprotein, Ig Superfamily Member; ORCAM; CDON; CDON Protein; CDO; Surface Glycoprotein Ig Superfamily Member;

NCIt definition : Cell adhesion molecule-related/down-regulated by oncogenes (1287 aa, 139 kDa) is encoded by the human CDON gene. This protein is involved in the mediation of cellular adhesion.;

NCIt note : Surface Glycoprotein, Ig Superfamily Member, encoded by the human CDON gene, is a cell surface glycoprotein and a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. Rhabdomyosarcoma is a childhood tumor of the skeletal muscle lineage in which cells display defects in both biochemical and morphological aspects of differentiation. The immunoglobulin superfamily members CDO and BOC are components of a cell surface receptor that positively regulates myogenesis in vitro. CDO and BOC may play a role in the inverse relationship between differentiation and transformation of cells in the skeletal muscle lineage. (PubMed 12720294, LocusLink);
