NCIt definition : Uromodulin (640 aa, 70 kDa) is encoded by the human UMOD gene. This protein plays a role in the formation of the ascending limb of Henle, urine-concentrating ability and host defensive responses in the kidney.;

NCIt note : Uromodulin is a GPI-anchored protein that is post-translationally, proteolytically cleaved by hepsin at a conserved C-terminal proteolytic cleavage site to generate the secreted form found in urine.;
