" /> Cardiac Phospholamban - CISMeF

Preferred Label : Cardiac Phospholamban;

NCIt synonyms : Phospholamban; PLN; PLB;

NCIt definition : Cardiac phospholamban (52 aa, 6 kDa) is encoded by the human PLN gene. This protein is involved in contractility of the heart muscle through the regulation of calcium transport by sarcoplasmic/endoplasmic reticulum calcium ATPase 2 (ATP2A2).;

NCIt note : Cardiac phospholamban (PLN) forms pentamers localized to sarcoplasmic reticulum membranes. PLN inhibits calcium transport by sarcoplasmic/endoplasmic reticulum calcium ATPase 2 (ATP2A2); inhibition is relieved upon phosphorylation of PLN by protein kinase A. (EntrezGene, OMIM and UniProt);
