NCIt definition : A preparation of autologous T-lymphocytes that are genetically engineered to express
a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) targeting the enterocyte differentiation antigen
guanylyl cyclase C (GUCY2C) that are activated with CAR T-cells specific for the CD19
antigen, and coupled to as of yet not fully elucidated signaling domains, with potential
immunostimulating and antineoplastic activities. Upon intravenous administration,
the autologous GCC-targeting CAR T cells GCC19CART are directed to, specifically bind
to, activate, proliferate and release cytokines that promote killing of GCC-expressing
tumor cells. GCC is overexpressed in various tumor cell types. The activation of the
GCC-targeting T-cells by activated CD19 CAR that secrete cytokines, enhances CAR T-cell
activation and proliferation, and may increase the T-cell-mediated killing of GCC-expressing
tumor cells.;
