NCIt definition : A preparation of autologous T-lymphocytes that have been activated against the tumor
associated antigen (TAA) mucin-1 (MUC1), with potential immunomodulating and antineoplastic
activities. Upon re-introduction into the patient, autologous MUC1-activated T-cells
specifically recognize and induce selective toxicity in MUC1-expressing tumor cells.
MUC1, a glycoprotein overexpressed on the surface of a variety of cancer cells, plays
a key role in tumor cell survival and proliferation.;
