Preferred Label : Gallium Ga 68 FF58;
NCIt synonyms : 68Ga-FF58; Gallium Ga 68-FF58; [68Ga]-FF58;
NCIt definition : A radiopharmaceutical agent comprised of FF58, a non-arginine-glycine-aspartic acid
(Arg-Gly-Asp/RGD) small molecule targeting the transmembrane receptors integrin alpha
V beta 3 (avb3) and 5 (avb5), labeled with gallium Ga 68, with potential avb3/5 imaging
activity during positron emission topography (PET)/computed tomography (CT). After
intravenous administration of gallium Ga 68 FF58, the FF58 moiety selectively targets
and binds to avb3/5 on the tumor cell membrane. Upon PET/CT imaging, avb3/5-expressing
tumor cells can be visualized and their expression levels can be quantified. avb3/5,
members of the integrin receptor family, are overexpressed on certain tumor cells
and tumor endothelial cells while minimally or not expressed on healthy, normal cells;
they play key roles in angiogenesis, tumor proliferation and survival.;
