" /> N-Myc Proto-Oncogene Protein - CISMeF

Preferred Label : N-Myc Proto-Oncogene Protein;

NCIt synonyms : MYCN Protein; Neuroblastoma MYC; bHLHe37; NMYC Gene Product; NMYC; N-Myc Protein; Class E Basic Helix-Loop-Helix Protein 37; MYCN;

NCIt definition : N-myc proto-oncogene protein (464 aa, 50 kDa) is encoded by the human MYCN gene. This protein plays a role in the regulation of transcription and DNA binding.;

NCIt note : The MYCN oncogene is amplified in approximately 25% of neuroblastoma tumors and is the most significant negative prognostic factor. In neuroblastoma, the MYCN oncogene directly activates genes required for DNA replication, and this may contribute to neoplastic transformation of these MYCN-amplified tumors. Minichromosome maintenance protein MCM7 is a direct target of the MYCN transcription factor in neuroblastoma. (from PMID 11861392);
