NCIt definition : A fusion gene that results from a chromosomal translocation t(9;11)(q34;q23) which
fuses exon 7 of the MLL gene to most of the FNBP1 gene. This rearrangement is associated
with acute myelogeneous leukemia.;
NCIt note : The presence of this fusion gene is associated with a poor prognosis. (Atlas of Genetics
and Cytogenetics in Oncology and Haematology) This fusion also can arise from other
complex chromosomal rearrangements including ins(11;9)(q23;q34) and inv(11)(q13;q23).
