This allele, which encodes unconventional myosin-XVIIIa protein and putative TGFB1-induced anti-apoptotic factor 1 protein, plays a role in the modeling of the cytoskeleton and the negative regulation of apoptosis respectively.;

NCIt note : A chromosomal translocation t(5;17)(q33-34;q11.2) involving the MYO18A gene and the PDGFRB gene was reported in a patient with imatinib-responsive eosinophilia associated with atypical myeloproliferative neoplasm. (OMIM); As per Entrez Gene, Gene ID:9220 was merged with into MYO18A (GeneID:399687) due to overlap of a significant portion of the transcript with 3' terminal exon of MYO18A.; The TIAF1 gene is located within the 3'-UTR region of the MYO18A gene.
