Preferred Label : Teprotumumab;
NCIt synonyms : Anti-IGF-1R Monoclonal Antibody R1507; Immunoglobulin G1, Anti-(Human Insulin-like Growth Factor I Receptor)(Human Monoclonal
Heavy Chain), Disulfide with Human Monoclonal Light Chain, Dimer; RV001 Monoclonal;
NCIt related terms : R1507;
NCIt definition : A recombinant, fully human monoclonal antibody directed against the insulin-like growth
factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R) with potential antineoplastic activity. Teprotumumab binds
to membrane-bound IGF-1R, preventing the binding of the natural ligand IGF-1 and the
activation of PI3K/AKT signal transduction; downregulation of the PI3K/AKT survival
pathway may result in the induction of apoptosis and decreased cellular proliferation.
The activation of IGF-1R, a receptor tyrosine kinase of the insulin receptor superfamily,
stimulates cell proliferation, enables oncogenic transformation, and suppresses apoptosis;
IGF-1R signaling has been implicated in tumorigenesis and metastasis.;
Alternative definition : NCI-GLOSS: A human monoclonal antibody being studied in the treatment of several types
of cancer. Monoclonal antibodies are made in the laboratory and can locate and bind
to substances in the body, including cancer cells. R1507 blocks the action of a protein
needed for cell growth and may kill cancer cells. It is a type of insulin-like growth
factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R) inhibitor.;
