Upon administration, methimazole inhibits the metabolism of iodide and the iodination
of tyrosine residues in the thyroid hormone precursor thyroglobulin by TPO; this prevents
the synthesis of the thyroid hormones triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4).;
